Had the same problem as SpencerKGames : In the latest release 0.03.01 the saves from the previous version are broken from 0.02.01.
Sometimes minor changes in the script and upgrades to renpy itself can break saved games. Sorry.
In the latest release 0.03.01 the saves from the previous version are broken from 0.02.01. Not sure if this came up in testing or not but I figured I would report it either way.
